Kindermusik Village
(Newborn to 18 months)

With you at the center of his or her discovery, Kindermusik Village engages your Baby's senses and rewards his curiosity with object and instrument exploration, vocal play, singing, creative movement and a colorful literature component. Please bring a soft blanket for Baby during floor activities. Plan to arrive a little early to enjoy Gathering Time. During class, adapt the activities to meet your baby's needs. This is a flexible environment where we may see one baby rocking in Dad's arms another waltzing on Grandma's toes and another bouncing on Mom's knees - all at the same time! Our best advice: Actively participate in class and home, observing Baby and discovering her preferences. Record your observations at home in the Journal provided with your At-Home materials. Kindermusik Village is a place where life's merry-go-round slows down to let you and your child share in the magical moments that happens through music movement, touch and sounds. Through a variety of engaging activities in which you interact with your child at her own developmental level, you will be given a peek inside your child's miraculous little body and brain. These moments of discovery will help you understand how with every tune and rhyme, with every tickle and whisper, with every song and peek-a-boo, you help unfold your baby's natural gifts.

Our Time focuses on your child's health emotional development as confidence, curiosity, self-control and communication begin to take shape. Recognizing a child's need for both the freedom to try new experiences and the assurances of your support, Our Time encourages your child's discovery with you at the center of his or her adventure. Children play instruments, learn finger plays, listen to the sounds of the world around them, move to music, sing along and enjoy Music and Movement Story Time. As you engage your child in class, you will develop a wonderful repertoire of interactive musical activities that can be extended at home. Our best advice: Enjoy this memorable time with your child as you enter her world of wonder, actively and joyfully interacting with her in class and at home. Listen to the CD at home and enjoy activities together there, too. Our Time provides a wonderful musical environment that capitalizes on each child's enormous potential to learn and helps parents engage children in new and exciting ways. Opportunities abound in each 45-minute class for parents to take the lead and enjoy playing, dancing, listening and singing with their child in their own special way.

Imagine That!
(3 through 5 years)

Imagine That! captures the child's attention, nurtures budding creativity and individuality and enhances the overall learning process. This is accomplished through a remarkable blend of music, singing, movement, literature, instrument exploration and pretend play. In Imagine That!, children are active participants in the learning process. With music as the common thread, each lesson provides opportunity for the child to reflect, compare, make choices, express opinions and preferences and engage in problem-solving activities. Remember to send your child's bag and any items suggested on the At-Home card to class each week. Plan to be available to participate in the last 10-15 minutes of class with your child. When you are invited to come in, please have a seat on the floor by your child, relax and enjoy this special time together. Your child may ignore you or cling to you - both are normal reactions of children at this age. Our best advice: Be an active and enthusiastic role model, gently guiding and encouraging your child to participate in his own way. Enjoy your CD and At-Home activities together during the week. Imagine That! continues his creative, musical development while building on his preschool learning. In a small group setting, instrument play is introduced to foster fine motor skills as well as familiarity with basic concepts like rhythm, pitch and timbre. Vocal exploration develops the singing voice, while imaginative and creative movement strengthens coordination. Listening activities cultivate discrimination and memorization skills while his movement affirms social skills.

In each weekly class, Young Child students explore many facets of music - speaking and singing, moving, listening, creating and playing instruments and learning about reading and writing music. During each class, creative movement or dances are interspersed with quiet activities like drawing or focused listening. In each 60-minute movement-orientated class, your child develops his greatest instrument - the voice - while learning the symbols and vocabulary of music making. The curriculum introduces the thrill of the glockenspiel, a pre-keyboard instrument, and the wonder of string and woodwind instruments like the dulcimer and recorder. Remember to send your child's Kindermusik bag, Games bag, Folder and any items suggested on the At-Home card to class each week. Plan to be available to participate in the last 5-10 minutes of class with your child. Our best advice: After each weekly class, we count on the active involvement of parents at home. Besides giving you an excellent synopsis of the weekly lesson, your Music at Home cards also provide you with a wealth of fun suggestions for home reinforcement. Look in your child's folder each week to find items completed in class and Activity pages to be done at home. Follow-through at home greatly aids your child's understanding and retention of the many musical concepts being taught. For your budding musician, Young Child provides a pressure-free, developmentally appropriate transition where he or she can succeed musically before taking on more formal instruction.
