Group Piano is a small group situation for individuals desiring piano instruction. It is a multi-sensory class and develops basic skills in a note-reading, theory, rhythm, sight singing, notation, ear training, mechanic and ensemble playing. The parents are a very important part of the success of the child's progress. The Music for Little Mozart class involves the parent for the entire class. The Piano Adventures class includes sharing time for the last 10-15 minutes. Practice is of utmost importance and parental involvement is an often overlooked, but very necessary component of the learning process. Younger children especially need "hands-on" parental help and encouragement. As this is a group situation, each student must continually progress as to not be "left behind." If the student must miss a class, assignments will be given and they will be expected to learn the material before the next class. Fingernails should be kept short as to facilitate correct hand position and technique. All students must exhibit proper behavior for a group situation. We love for parents to visit with each other before or after class, but not during class time, please! When you are an active, focused and enthusiastic participant in the class activities, your child will model your actions and focus more fully. |
